Obama showing lack of leadership once again...

A couple of things on my mind today.

Obama speaking at Notre Dame - well of course I think it was a mistake and it has been discussed at length. I would like to focus on one part in particular though. I've included a piece that shows some of what he had to say. In this clip you'll hear the comments he made about the two sides of the abortion issue being irreconcilable.

Obviously, given he had very few um's and stutters, this was one speech that went on without a teleprompter malfunction. I have to wonder why no one thought about what this president was really saying here. He has effectively shut off all communication on this issue. And if you listen to the clip really you can include other issues in this new irreconcilable category, stem cell research for instance. One more example of this president (and staff) not thinking about the power his words are given his office. Unbelievable.

NO matter what the view of either side - there should always be open communication. There may be a day when we can come to an understanding. Politicians might want to start listening to medical professionals, instead of insisting on keeping these issues purely political. They would understand that at the time of Roe v. Wade we did not have near the understanding on when life started in a scientific sense anyway. Also, they might be able to wrap their brains around the idea that adult stem cell research is a much better place to be putting the research money over embryonic stem cell research.

Instead of closing the door on communication, would it not be better for the president to encourage MORE OPEN communication on these subjects? One more sign that he lacks the leadership skills to move this country forward.
